Walgreens to employ RangeMe for product discovery

7/31/2019
Walgreens is centralizing merchant communications with suppliers, aiding its social responsibility efforts.

The drugstore retailer is joining the RangeMe online ERP platform to standardize how merchants and buyers obtain access to critical information from suppliers, such as company background and product specs and samples. Leveraging the RangeMe platform, Walgreens merchants will be able to engage with a varied base of more than 150,000 suppliers.

At the same time, the platform will enable Walgreens merchants to narrow searches for products to include a variety of criteria. This will assist them in finding the small and diverse suppliers that are a critical factor in the company’s corporate social responsibility program.

“Doing business with small and diverse suppliers is a key part of our corporate social responsibility strategy,” said Carlos Cubia, VP and global chief diversity officer, Walgreens Boots Alliance. “Being able to more easily access these suppliers is something that is very important to Walgreens, and we’re pleased that the RangeMe platform allows us to find new ways to offer our customers great products.”

As of Aug. 31, 2018, Walgreens operates 9,560 drugstores with a presence in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, along with its omnichannel business, Walgreens.com.
