WBA adds 3 global executives

Walgreens Boots Alliance has named three executives to global posts. The company has named Vineet Mehra global chief marketing officer, Annie Murphy global chief commercial officer and Colin Nelson senior vice president and chief global supply chain officer.

Mehra joins WBA from Ancestry.com. where he was global chief marketing officer. Prior to that, he held top global marketing positions at Johnson & Johnson, Avon, Novartis Consumer Health, General Mills and Procter & Gamble. He was listed among Forbes’ 2018 “Top 50 CMOs” defining the future of marketing. He will be based in Deerfield, Ill., and report to co-COOs Ornella Barra and Alex Gourlay, overseeing vision, leadership, strategic direction and performance of all WBA marketing activities.

Murphy moves into the global chief commercial officer role from her position as senior vice president, chief customer officer with WBA. She also will take over leadership of WBA’s Global Brands business. She has previously held director positions at Boots UK and Boots Ireland since 2011. She has previously worked in marketing, sales and business development for such companies as Birds Eye, PepsiCo UK, P&G UK and Tesco.

Nelson joins WBA from Bunge Global, where he was head of industrial operations. He has previously held the position of senior vice president, global supply chain for GSK Consumer Healthcare, overseeing supply chain for its wellness, oral care, nutrition and skin health products. He has held global supply chain positions at privately owned fragrance and flavor company Firmenich, as well as Unilever Europe Foods, Unifoods South Africa and Unilever Asia, Africa, Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe/Russia. He will report to Barra and Gourlay, leading WBA’s global pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution networks, which serve more than 18,000 stores in 11 countries.
