Rite Aid adding 60 COVID-19 testing locations, expanding age range

Rite Aid continues to build out its COVID-19 infrastructure while also expanding the eligibility for its no-charge tests. The company said it would be adding 60 additional drive-thru testing locations to its existing 400 testing sites on Jan. 22. Tests now will be available to anyone four years old and older at all test sites — expanded from its previous minimum testing age of 13. 

Rite Aid said the new locations would be across its testing footprint, which currently includes California, Washington, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Maryland.

The new locations will use self-swab nasal tests overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists and will operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. As with other test sites, customers will need to pre-register online to schedule a testing time slot. 

The lab testing for the sites is provided by BioReference Labs, and oversight for the program is provided by nationwide clinician network PWN Health, the company said.
