Rite Aid joins ranks of retailers mandating face coverings

Rite Aid is the latest retailer to require masks in store. The company said that effective July 21, all customers will be required to wear a mask. Rite Aid said that it would supply masks to customers without a face covering free of charge.

The company’s associates have been required to wear masks since May 1, and several Rite Aid stores have stores have required masks based on local laws. Rite Aid said that it would not be asking its employees to enforce the mask requirement, but that in-store signge and announcements would be in place to remind customers of the requirement.

"As the pandemic continues to embattle the country, it's critical that healthcare companies lead by example and do all we can to ensure the health and safety of our associates and customers," said Jim Peters, Rite Aid COO. "In order to best provide communities we serve with essential pharmacy services, we're asking customers to help protect themselves and those around them by wearing a face covering."
