Rite Aid names general counsel
Rite Aid has made its interim general counsel permanent. The retailer on Tuesday named Paul Gilbert to the role of general counsel and corporate secretary, officially installing him into a role he had been serving in on an interim basis since May 21, when he joined to assist with the company’s virtual stockholder meeting and governance matters.
As general counsel, Gilbert will be part of Rite Aid’s executive leadership team and senior leadership team, spearheading the company’s legal efforts. During his time with the company, Gilbert has provided strategic guidance on various business initiatives as the company undergoes its RxEvolution strategy, which includes positioning Rite Aid as a leading mid-market PBM and reshaping the company’s in-store and online customer experiences.
"We believe Paul's experience working with healthcare providers, integrated health networks, payors, and technology solutions will be an asset as we continue to implement our bold RxEvolution plan," said Heyward Donigan, president and CEO, Rite Aid. "We're excited to add his proven leadership and perspective to the team of senior leaders working toward a bright new future for Rite Aid."
Prior to his work with Rite Aid, Gilbert was a corporate healthcare partner at Epstein Becker & Green. Before that, he spent more than 10 years at LifePoint Health, where he was executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate governance officer.
