Daily Diversion: DSN tracks Pope Francis’ NYC visit
NEW YORK — Drug Store News online editor David Salazar was onsite for the Papal Procession through Central Park in New York City on Friday.
Those with tickets to view the motorcade through Central Park’s West Drive between 72nd and 60th St. could begin checking in at 11 a.m. and had to pass through security by 3:30 p.m., many hours before the 5 p.m. procession began. However, attendees were lining up to see the Pope well before the 11 a.m. call time.
On Friday, the Pope addressed the United Nations General Assembly and visited Ground Zero in the morning, while later in the day visiting a school in East Harlem, traveling through Central Park and leading a mass at Madison Square Garden, one block from the Drug Store News offices.
