TAMPA, Fla. — Baby Comfy Care won this year’s Drug Store News/ECRM
Best Product Award in the personal care, oral and baby category for its Deluxe Safety Nail Clipper at ECRM’s Personal Care, Oral and Baby event from July 12 to 15. St. Louis-based Handi-Craft Co. was named as the finalist for the Dr. Brown’s Options Baby Bottle.
With buyers casting votes on product innovation and packaging, the two products were selected from nearly 20 entries in the award program.
Based in Longmont, Colo., Baby Comfy Care was founded by husband and wife team Peter and Elise Champe in 2010. They paired their backgrounds in design with their parenting experiences when they developed the Deleuxe Safety Nail Clipper.
The product has only one blade, with a bottom flat plastic ledge that pushes baby’s skin back out of the way while the top blade cuts the nail to prevent nail bed injury. It features an ergonomic design and larger size that makes it easier to hold.
Dr. Brown’s Options Bottle allows parents to choose whether to use the bottle with or without the internal vent, which re-routes the flow of air into the vent tube, bypassing the milk. This system prevents air bubble oxidation, vacuum pressure and nipple collapse, according to the company. As a result, the product prevents milk aeration, aids in baby’s digestion and helps reduce feeding problems such as spit-up, burping and gas.
