NEW YORK — Despite the frigid temps, spirits were high as Walgreens celebrated on Thursday the official grand re-opening of its newest flagship store in New York City’s Union Square.

Walgreens opened in the historic Union Square area in 2001, and the store has now been renovated to feature the company’s new Well Experience format.

The impressive two-story location, which takes up one full city block, has been transformed to meet the unique needs of the neighborhood and to become an ideal destination for health and daily living. The store’s expanded features include the company’s new Well Experience format, which offers new solutions and services, including a new pharmacy design; an Upmarket with chef-rolled sushi, sandwiches, wraps and ready-to-eat cut fruits and vegetables; an expanded beauty and personal care section that includes Boots No7 products; an expansive seasonal department; and an advanced printing and photo lab.
