Southeastern Grocers supports local communities with more than $8.25M
Southeastern Grocers is sharing just how much it has given back to local communities throughout 2020.
In partnership with its SEG Gives Foundation, the company has awarded more than $8.25 million to aid local communities and support neighbors in need.
“As we all reflect on this year, many may be reminded of the challenges and obstacles faced throughout the world, but we believe it is important to remember that this year has given us so many new reasons to celebrate our neighbors and those who share our communities,” Anthony Hucker, President and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said. “Together, we experienced unimaginable loss and overwhelming change, but we have proven that we are most resilient as a united community and that kindness can go a long way.”
Throughout the year, $4 million was donated to aid in alleviating food insecurity, $630,000 was given to the American Red Cross and more than $2.3 million was donated to Folds of Honor to provide educational scholarships.
In addition, Southeastern Grocers partnered with more than 4,700 local organizations to host more than 30 mobile food pantries and provide more than 10 million meals to fight hunger, the company said.
