Walgreens adds Find Rx Coverage Advisor
Walgreens is adding a new resource for patients who need to navigate changing health coverage due to unemployment and loss of health insurance. The retailer’s new Find Rx Coverage Advisor offers personalized guidance on health and prescription drug coverage, and can connect eligible users to health plan partners to address questions about Medicare Part D enrollment.
“Shifts in health insurance coverage because of job loss, life events or as you qualify for Medicare Part D can be a complicated maze of options,” said Rick Gates, senior vice president of pharmacy at Walgreens. “As champions of patient choice and prescription affordability, Walgreens collaborates with and accepts a wide range of health plans and benefits. This allows us to provide our customers with trusted resources to help find the right health insurance option for them.”
The Find Rx Coverage Advisor takes a user’s answer to questions about health coverage and shows results that include available health plans in the area, including Medicaid, marketplace health plans, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plans. It also shares additional prescriptions savings resources based on information provided. Walgreens said the tool’s launch is part of its efforts to support paitents in maintaining access to medications, and builds on it Prescription Savings Club offering, which offers up to 80% off cash retail prices for medications with an annual fee of $20 per person or $35 per family. That offering now is also offering 20% off the cash retail price for flu shots in participating markets.
Other Prescription Savings Club efforts from Walgreens include expanded services that include 90-day refills, refill authorization and waived fees on one- to two-day deliver on eligible prescriptions during shelter in place orders. It also connects users with prescription assistance programs and manufacturers coupons, and has issued 200,000 flu vouchers for immunizations at no cost for those who are most in need during the upcoming flu season.
