Walgreens, Biden administration partner on COVID-19 vaccine clinics
As the Biden administration makes moves to help boost COVID-19 vaccination rates, it is turning to Walgreens as a partner to bring vaccine clinics to community colleges nationwide this summer. The company will be hosting COVID-19 vaccination clinics throughout May and June for community college students, faculty and staff.
Walgreens said the efforts at community college are in addition to its efforts undertaken with more than 15 universities, which have been part of its efforts to expand vaccine access to more populations.
The company said it also is looking to help younger adolescents get vaccinated on the heels of the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for those 12 to 15 years old. Walgreens has reached out to more than 1,000 school districts where it has hosted flu clinics or immunized educators against COVID-19 earlier this year. It has plans to offer in-store and on-site vaccination clinics for these school districts.
