Walgreens expands products available via drive-through
With an increasing number of its customers turning to the drive-through amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Walgreens is expanding the products it offers through the service. The company's more than 7,300 pharmacy drive-throughs now offer more than 60 front-end products, among them household essentials Walgreens chose specifically to support efforts to prevent infection or mitigate symptoms.
Among the products being offered are cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer, as well as OTC products in the cough-cold, pain and fever, and immunity support categories. The selection also includes certain grocery items, infant formula and adult nutrition, medical supplies, first aid and paper goods. The company said customers can check product availability at the drive-through window, and that there would be quantity restrictions for certain products.
“We are working around the clock to support our customers and patients, who are relying on us more now than ever before,” said Lisa Badgley, senior vice president of pharmacy and retail operations at Walgreens. “We’re continuing to quickly introduce new and different ways to meet customers’ needs for greater convenience during the COVID-19 pandemic, while also promoting social distancing as one of the most important preventive measures we can take. We also ask that customers be patient as we work to provide this new and expanded service, as there may be wait times given current demand.”
The company said that when there are no lines at the drive-through, pharmacy technicians can provide customers these items on the spot. In the event there are multiple vehicles in line waiting for assistance, customers may be asked to drive back around and will be provided a wait time to return to pick up their items.
