8.9 million views.

That’s the number of people who viewed a TikTok video @Trinhdoesthings had in early January, in which a TikToker described the uniqueness of a Walgreens’ candy that contributed to the candy flying off store shelves.

The product that is driving the craze is Walgreens Nice! Gummy Mango launched in September of 2023 in 2,500 stores. A Walgreens spokesperson confirmed that one bag per person is still limited online.

In the video, the TikToker picks up a packet of the candy at a Walgreens store “after seeing it all over social media.” She tears it open at her kitchen table and then peels off the outer skin of the mango-shaped gummy and pops the shiny smooth inner pulp into her mouth, proclaiming, “This is so fun.” She then proceeds to eat the peel, too, while complimenting its chewy texture, the report said.

Other TikTok videos compared the treat to the peelable gummy candies in peach and grape flavors from Japanese or Korean brands available on Amazon or showed ways to change up the flavor by adding spice to the mango version, per a CNN report.

Marty Esarte, vice president of Walgreens’ owned brands, told Drug Store News, “The item was brought to us from our vendor partner based on peelable mango trends they were seeing in Asia. We loved the fun peelability of the item so decided to bring it in stores. TikToker influencers discovered the candies in January and before we knew it, products were flying off the shelves. Due to the success of the item, inventory for the mango item will increase to 8,000 stores on May 22 and a new peelable banana gummy will launch in 5,700 stores on the same date. The price will be $1.99 per bag.”
