Walgreens kicks off nationwide mobile clinic bus tour

The bus — which is equipped to vaccinate up to six patients at once — is on a coast-to-coast, multicity tour that kicked off with a stop in Washington, D.C., on May 15.

As Walgreens works to increase COVID-19 vaccine access, the company recently hit the road with its mobile vaccination clinic. The bus — which is equipped to vaccinate up to six patients at once — is on a coast-to-coast, multicity tour that kicked off with a stop in Washington, D.C., on May 15.

The move follows more than 800 offsite clinics in medically underserved areas, as well as the May 3 introduction of mobile clinics in certain cities, beginning with a mobile trailer making stops throughout Chicago.

Walgreens’ bus will offer walk-up vaccinations in every city as it makes its way across the country through mid-July.

The tentative schedule currently is:

  • Atlanta – May 22-24
  • Louisville, Ky. – May 27
  • Detroit – May 29-30
  • Cincinnati – June 1
  • New Orleans – June 5-6
  • Baton Rouge, La. – June 7
  • Monroe, La. – June 8-9
  • Houston – June 11
  • Corpus Christi, Texas – June 12-13
  • McAllen, Texas – June 14
  • Albuquerque, N.M. – June 18-19
  • Phoenix – June 22
  • Los Angeles – June 24-27
  • Oakland, Calif. – June 29
  • Eugene, Ore. – July 2
  • Salem, Ore. – July 3
  • Portland, Ore. – July 5

The company noted that the dates and cities are subject to change, and that stops would be promoted in local markets. Walgreens also said patients can continue to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations at local Walgreens stores, both with appointments and on a walk-in basis.

Since it began working with the federal government to administer COVID-19 vaccinations, initially in long-term care facilities, Walgreens said it has administered more than 17 milion vaccine doses.
