Walmart Health offering COVID-19 vaccines across Georgia

As the country pushes for 70% of people to receive at least one dose by July 4, Walmart Health is leveraging its clinic footprint to boost vaccination rates in Georgia. Noting that less than half of people in Georgia have been vaccinated, the company on Thursday announced via a blog post that Walmart Health locations across the state now offer COVID-19 vaccinations.

The blog, written by Walmart Health senior vice president Marcus Osborne, noted that Walmart would soon be offering COVID-19 vaccinations at its locations in other states, including Illinois, over the course of the next month. Osborne noted that the Walmart Health vaccinations augment the existing COVID-19 vaccine services being offered at more than 5,100 Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies nationwide.

As it begins to offer COVID-19 vaccines, Walmart Health also is rolling out COVID-19 testing for patients who visit the clinics as part of a sick visit.

“The pandemic reinforced just how important it is for patients to have access to quality, affordable health care, and we’ve heard from our patients how much they value the care they receive at Walmart Health,” Osborne wrote. “We have ambitious goals to fundamentally transform health care in America. We’re committed to continuing to meet our communities’ health needs, as shown by our recent announcement of our intent to acquire MeMD and our planned expansion into Florida beginning later this year and additional locations in Arkansas early next year.”
