Walmart’s health and wellness chief to depart

Walmart’s U.S. president of health and wellness is leaving the retailer. The departure of Sean Slovenski, who also is a senior vice president at Walmart U.S., was announced Tuesday in an email from Walmart U.S. president and CEO John Furner to associates. 

“Sean and I have been discussing this transition the past several weeks, as he and his team have successfully stood up the strategy we hired him to create,” Furner’s email said. “Thanks to Sean and team, we have made great progress on creating an organization within Walmart to provide affordable, accessible, essential health care to our customers in the form of Walmart Health centers.”

Slovenski has been with Walmart since 2018, and during that time has led its health-and-wellness efforts, including the launch of Walmart Health stand-alone health clinics next door to a handful of Walmart stores in the South. The first opened in September 2019 in Dallas, Ga., and the latest opened in Arkansas at the end of June. Slovenski announced plans at the end of July for Walmart Health to expand into Florida next year. 
 
Additionally, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Slovenski oversaw the rollout of COVID-19 testing sites at Walmart locations nationwide. 

“We will miss Sean, but we are excited to continue building and expanding on what he created at Walmart and to provide many more customers with affordable, accessible, essential health care options,” Furner’s email said.
