Watch DSN: Bill Ladwig discusses how Lewis Drug serves its unique communities

In the latest installment of the Watch DSN video series, Bill Ladwig of Lewis Drug talks to DSN publisher John Kenlon about the chain's approach to bringing health care to pharmacy deserts.

Throughout the pandemic, pharmacies have proven themselves to be a crucial link in the healthcare system, and there are few places where that is truer than in rural areas. Lewis Drug, based in Sioux Falls, S.D., is a shining example of this. In some areas, the chain is the only pharmacy in a given county.

Bill Ladwig, senior vice president of professional services at Lewis Drug, recently sat down with DSN publisher and EnsembleIQ senior vice president John Kenlon to discuss how the chain provides critical services to the communities it serves — many of which are pharmacy deserts — from medication synchronization and health education to everything in between. He also discusses the chain’s efforts to embed pharmacists in rural clinics to simplify the healthcare process for patients.
