States Most Hooked on Ozempic:

New York

  • Total monthly searches: 110,000
  • Population: 19,997,100
  • Searches per 100K residents: 550.1

New York is the leading U.S. state that shows the highest interest in Ozempic, with 550.1 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. With a total of 110,000 searches each month, it’s clear that New Yorkers are eager to learn more about this drug. The state’s rapid lifestyle can potentially explain the quick rise in health trends and celebrity-endorsed solutions, which is a perfect condition for Ozempic to gain its popularity, Outcomes Rocket said.

Nevada

  • Total monthly searches: 18,100
  • Population: 3,320,570
  • Searches per 100K residents: 545.1

Nevada stands at number two with 545.1 monthly searches for every 100,000 residents, resulting in 18,100 monthly inquiries. Thanks to its reputation for luxury entertainment in Las Vegas, Nevada may not immediately appear as a health-concerned state. However, this result clearly demonstrates a contrasting trend where people are increasingly looking for wellness solutions like Ozempic, according to the survey.

Despite its location amidst the desert and a small population, the high search rate per capita in Nevada indicates strong public interest in weight control and diabetes treatment. The question is whether Las Vegas’s entertainment industry has spread its effect to Nevada, emphasizing the effect of appearance, the company noted.

Maryland

  • Total monthly searches: 33,100
  • Population: 6,309,380
  • Searches per 100K residents: 524.6

Standing in the third position is Maryland with 524.6 searches per 100,000 residents, which comes to a total of 33,100 monthly inquiries. The strategic position of the state next to Washington, along with its affluent communities, creates better healthcare access and awareness about innovative medical treatments. The high number of searches in Maryland indicates that people in this state are interested in the benefits of Ozempic's medical and cosmetic treatment, according to Outcomes Rocket.

Oregon

  • Total monthly searches: 22,200
  • Population: 4,291,090
  • Searches per 100K residents: 517.4

Closely following at number four is Oregon, which has a total monthly search for Ozempic at 22,200 inquiries, averaging about 517.4 searches per 100,000 residents. It is surprising that an active and forward-thinking community like Oregon would be endorsing a medication-driven trend, the survey said. Yet, the 4 million inhabitants of Oregon show significant interest in Ozempic. This could be due to their health-oriented lifestyle and the drug’s increasing presence on social media, per Outcomes Rocket.

New Jersey

  • Total monthly searches: 49,500
  • Population: 9,622,060
  • Searches per 100K residents: 514.4

Rounding out the top five is New Jersey, with 514.4 monthly searches per 100,000 residents and a total of 49,500 searches each month. New Jersey’s proximity to New York City and its affluent suburban communities may contribute to its high ranking, as residents likely have access to both information and healthcare providers prescribing Ozempic. This state’s robust search volume underscores its place in the Ozempic craze, the company said.

States with the least Ozempic buzz:
While some states can’t get enough of Ozempic, others show far less interest. Here’s a quick look at the five states with the lowest demand, based on searches per 100,000 residents:

  • Mississippi: 275.2 searches per 100K (8,100 total)
  • Vermont: 293.1 searches per 100K (1,900 total)
  • Iowa: 303.3 searches per 100K (9,900 total)
  • West Virginia: 305.2 searches per 100K (5,400 total)
  • South Dakota: 311.5 searches per 100K (2,900 total)

These states, primarily rural with smaller populations, suggest that Ozempic’s allure hasn’t fully penetrated every corner of the United States. Factors like limited healthcare access, lower exposure to media trends or differing health priorities might explain their lower search volumes.

What’s driving the Ozempic obsession?
So why are states like New York, Nevada, Maryland, Oregon and New Jersey so hooked on Ozempic? Outcomes Rocket identified the following factors that could be at play:

  • Media influence: Social media power is off the charts. With some considerably viral posts on these platforms, alongside celebrity endorsements, Ozempic’s popularity seems like an inevitable result, particularly in trend-setting states like New York and Nevada, Outcomes Rocket noted.
  • Urban lifestyles: Higher search volumes often correlate with densely populated, urbanized areas where new wellness or health medications gain attention quickly, per the company.
  • Health awareness: Residents in progressive states like Maryland and New Jersey have a better healthcare infrastructure, thus allowing them to explore more advanced treatments.
  • Weight-loss craze: With a society still heavily focused on beauty standards, Ozempic’s off-label use for effective weight loss can easily spark widespread curiosity, the company noted.
