Schmidt’s Naturals intros 2 new scents to benefit Surfrider Foundation

7/5/2017

PORTLAND, Ore. — Natural deodorant company Schmidt’s Naturals on Wednesday unveiled its new Waves scent in two varieties, which will see portions of their proceeds donated to the Surfrider Foundation.

“Waves is unlike any other scent that we've produced to date – the undertones of cool water and peaks of tropical fruit evoke the ultimate summer aroma. We also partnered with Portland illustrator Jillian Barthold to create a super stylish and vibey label,” Schmidt’s Naturals founder and chief product officer Jaime Schmidt said. “We are always striving to bring innovation to the category in a way that is progressive and ethically responsible; true to the brand's mission. By partnering with the Surfrider Foundation, we are helping preserve our globe's most cherished natural resource and smelling super fresh while doing so.”

Schmidt’s will donate 5% of Waves proceeds to the Surfrider Foundation, which works to protect the oceans through an activist network. In particular, the foundation focuses on such issues as pollution and coastal degradation.

"We are excited to partner with Schmidt's Naturals on its new WAVES scent. The brand's commitment to natural ingredients aligns with our mission to protect the world's ocean, waves, and beaches by advocating for clean water and reducing plastic pollution," Surfrider Foundation’s Oregon field manager Briana Goodwin said. “In this consumer-driven society, arguably the biggest impact one can have on the environment, positive or negative, is through what you purchase. We applaud Schmidt's Naturals for creating products that are better for both you and the ocean. Protect what you love.”

The scents currently are available through Poler at its flagship Portland, Ore., store. The original variety of Waves retails for $8.99 and the sensitive skin formula retails for $10.99.

“As we continue to change the world, one body at a time, organizations such as Surfrider continue to prove the greater good can increase when we join arm in arm," Schmidt’s Naturals chief global strategy officer Michael Cammarata said.
