  • L’Oréal officially inks Body Shop deal with Natura

    CLICHY, France — L’Oréal is officially selling The Body Shop to a Brazilian cosmetics giant. The company on Wednesday announced that it had signed a sale agreement with Natura Cosmeticos to purchase the retail chain. The two companies entered exclusive talks in early June, and L’Oréal said it had signed the deal following advice from its Works Council.

    MUMBAI — Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta, chairman and founder of Lupin, passed away early Monday in Mumbai at the age of 79, the company has announced. Born in Rajgarh, Rajasthan, Gupta moved to Mumbai and founded Lupin in 1968 with the goal of providing high-quality medicines at affordable prices.

    EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Supervalu Inc. is losing its chief financial officer.

    The company announced that Bruce Besanko plans to resign as executive VP, COO and CFO effective July 5, 2017 to pursue an outside opportunity.

  • Albertsons strengthens marketing and merchandising team

    BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons on Friday announced two key executive appointments to its marketing and merchandising team. Dennis Clark has been promoted to SVP merchandising, and Pat Brown, most recently CEO of Natural Markets Food Group, has been named group VP merchandising, leading Deli & Prepared Foods and Business Initiatives.

  • Purdue Pharma names new CEO as Timney departs

    STAMFORD, Conn. — Purdue Pharma has new leadership. The company on Thursday named Dr. Craig Landau to the position of president and CEO, effective immediately. He will retain responsibility for Purdue Pharma in Canada as well, and takes over the position in the United States from Mark Timney, who is leaving the company to pursue another opportunity, Purdue said.

  • H-E-B CEO ranks highest among retailers on Glassdoor's top CEO list

    MILL VALLEY, Calif. ­— Glassdoor ealier this week announced the winners of its annual Employees’ Choice Awards, honoring the Highest Rated CEOs in 2017 across North America and parts of Europe.

    The top retail CEO is Charles Butt, CEO of H-E-B, who comes in at No. 16 overall. Other notables from the retail pharmacy industry include George Barrett, CEO Cardinal Health at No. 77 and Craig Jelinak , CEO Costco, at No. 88.

  • FDA chief outlines Drug Competition Action Plan for generics

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — Food and Drug Administration commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb has taken to the agency’s FDA Voice blog to outline the efforts he’s undertaking that are aimed at increasing competition in the generics market. The FDA’s Drug Competition Action Plan begins with a public hearing on July 18 to assess the places where FDA regulations could be creating obstacles to generic access.
