    “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” last year lampooned the allergy industry for claiming that 2015 was the “worst allergy season ever.” Just as 2014 was the “worst season” before that, and 2013 the “worst season” before that. And on and on as far back as 2008.

  • CDC, Brazil Health Ministry including FC2 in Zika prevention kits

    ATLANTA - The Zika virus has hit the coast of Florida in the Miami area, specifically the Wynwood neighborhood, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Monday.

    Based on the confirmation of local Zika transmission in Florida, CDC has updated its Interim Zika Response Plan and has released the Zika Community Action Response Toolkit to help states with risk communication and community engagement when local transmission is identified.

    Before the Blues Brothers took the stage Friday night, July 22 at Cardinal Health RBC 2016, attendees celebrated one of their peers — the winner of the 2016 Ken Wurster Community Leadership Award. Cardinal Health honored Ed Christofano, owner of Hayden’s Pharmacy in Youngwood, Pennsylvania with the award, which recognizes an independent pharmacist with an outstanding commitment to promoting the principles of community pharmacy.

  • Sprouts Farmers Market teams up with Vitamin Angels to support kids' health

    PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Sprouts Farmers Market is partnering with the non-profit Vitamin Angels to support health and nutrition for children.

    Sprouts has already donated more than $540,000 to the organization, helping 2.1 million children. Sprouts aims to help connect an additional 2.4 million undernourished children with life changing and lifesaving nutrients through two in-store campaigns in 2016 at locations from coast to coast.

  • AACE surveys reveal new data on type 2 diabetic adults

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two new surveys conducted by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists reveal surprising and new information about adults living with type 2 diabetes. 

    The Perspectives in Diabetes Care surveys, conducted with support from Sanofi US, revealed that patients are more willing to take action to reach their individualized average blood glucose, or A1C, targets quicker than physicians and other medical professionals believe.

  • APhA warns new language and anti-discriminatory rules may impact pharmacy

    WASHINGTON - Beginning July 18, pharmacies will be required to abide by rules that regulate discriminatory behavior and practices, such as refusing to provide adequate language assistance services to customers with limited English proficiency or refusing to dispense medications for gender transitions.

  • Benzer Pharmacy rolls out RxTakeBack kiosks at 2 locations

    TAMPA, Fla. — Benzer Pharmacy on Tuesday announced a new service that it is offering at two locations. Using PharmaLink’s RxTakeBack program, Benzer has made it possible for patients to dispose of unwanted or expired prescription and OTC drugs, including controlled substances, at one Tampa and one Pompano Beach, Fla. Location. Each store features a kiosk for drug disposal.

    SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Vitamin Angels, a charity that provides nutritional support to children and mothers in need, has received another coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation's premier charity evaluator. Vitamin Angels' year-over-year excellence in financial health, accountability and transparency places the organization above 94% of the 8,000 charities reviewed by Charity Navigator.
