  • Certified Specialty Pharmacy testing due date arrives

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board is requesting that applicants for its credentialing program for specialty pharmacists send in their applications by Sept. 15, the group said Friday.

    The SPCB said the due date applies to the first round of Certified Specialty Pharmacy tests, which will be administered in October, and pharmacists can apply online for the test.

    NEW YORK — A new article published by researchers in Canada explains how expanding the kinds of services pharmacists can offer could improve patient care, but also have various implications for physicians.

    The article, published in the the journal of the Canadian Medical Association, CMAJ (subscription required), and reported by HealthDay News, came from University of Montreal researcher Cara Tannenbaum and the University of Alberta's Ross Tsuyuki.

  • Chamberlain College of Nursing develops family nurse practitioner specialty track

    DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — As demand for health care rises and the nationwide shortage of primary-care practitioners continues, the services of nurse practitioners will be integral in providing effective patient care. In recognition of this, the Chamberlain College of Nursing has launched a Master of Science in Nursing — Family Nurse Practitioner specialty track.

    Nurses who complete this track may transition into Chamberlain’s Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program geared toward advanced practice nurses.

  • Good Neighbor pharmacists can vaccinate patients under collaborative-practice agreements

    VALLEY FORGE, Pa. – Pharmacists at Good Neighbor Pharmacy can provide immunizations to patients without a prescription from a physician under a new program, parent company AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp. said.

    AmerisourceBergen said it was offering the service under the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Provider Network's Collaborative Practice Coverage program, which allows independent pharmacists to benefit from GNPPN's collaborative practice agreements, which it has in 19 states.
