    PLANO, TX — It's a new year, one filled with high hopes and endless possibilities. And Dr Pepper hopes consumers choose to celebrate what makes them one of a kind in 2014 through the "One of One"  (“/1”) campaign.

    The brand will introduce a series of ads showcasing people who truly break the mold, including Grammy-nominated stars Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, YouTube phenomenon Michelle Phan and Grammy-nominee and "the king of bachata," Romeo Santos.

  • Consumers seek healthier snacking options

    ROCKVILLE, Md. — While snacking has become increasingly popular among Americans, often even replacing regular meals, many companies also have been developing salty snack foods that are healthier, according to a new study.

    In a report titled "Salty Snacks in the U.S.," market research firm Packaged Facts found that 50 million consumers who often snack between meals consider salted snacks their favorite, while 90% of households reporting eating salty snacks in the past 30 days.

  • Category management veteran Mike Cirilli joins L&R Distributors

    NEW YORK — A New York-based distribution, merchandising and analytics firm has hired a former executive from Rite Aid and Duane Reade.

    L&R Distributors announced Wednesday the hiring of Mike Cirilli as VP category management and procurement. L&R distributes more than 30,000 general merchandise, health, beauty and cosmetics products, pointing more than 12,000 points of distribution across the supermarket, drug, independent and mass-merchandise channels.

    PHILADELPHIA — Older patients at high risk for heart disease who follow a Mediterranean diet rich in extra-virgin olive oil do not need to restrict calories, increase exercise or lose weight to prevent diabetes, according to an article being published in Annals of Internal Medicine that was released Monday.

    ATLANTA — Minute Maid Juices to Go will welcome two new flavors to its product line. The new blends, Minute Maid Tropical Blend and Minute Maid Berry Blend, are the first Juices to Go products to contain vegetable juice. 

  • Wheat Thins Popped to debut in March

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Wheat Thins fans will get a new product to enjoy with the introduction of Wheat Thins Popped. The snack will hit retailers nationwide beginning March. 

    It will be the first popped whole grain snack with wheat as the first ingredient. Wheat Thins Popped has less than 130 calories per 27-piece serving and comes in three varieties: Original Sea Salt, Sour Cream and Onion and Spicy Cheddar. The snack will retail for $3.69
