  • Costco October comps up 2%, net sales up 4%

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. -- Costco reported a jump in comps of 2% and a boost in net sales of 4% to $9.11 billion for the month of October.

    Same-store sales, excluding the impacts from changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange, were up 2%, with a 2% rise in U.S., a 5% increase in Canada, and 3% rise in Other International comparable sales. 

  • Costco targets busy shoppers with 'Mom Hour' event

    Costco is rolling out its second annual event designed to give moms an extra hour to shop.

    The club retailer's “Mom Hour, a Holiday Shopping Event just for Moms!” event will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. (an hour before the clubs usually open). Nearly 100 Costco warehouses across the country will be participating.

    Participants will get treats, swag bags and other giveaways, including a discount on membership.

  • Costco, UPS team up with University of Washington on omnichannel project

    SEATTLE -- The University of Washington is teaming up with Costco, UPS, Nordstrom and other stakeholders on a new project that aims to improve the way consumers receive their online purchases.

    The SCTL Center Urban Freight Lab says it will be working to improve the management of both public and private operations of urban goods delivery systems. Urban Freight Lab members plan to engage in strategic applied research projects at the SCTL Center, and help identify priority problems for future research.

  • Same store sales up 1% at Costco in September

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. -- Costco’s same-store sales for September rose 1%, compared to a 2% increase in August. 

    The club retailer also reported net sales of $11.06 billion for the five weeks ended Oct. 2, an increase of 3% from $10.75 billion during the similar period last year.

    Comparable sales for this period excluding the impacts from gasoline price deflation and foreign exchange were: U.S.  0 %, Canada  5 %, Other International  0 % and Total Company  1 %.
