For the quarter ended July 30, Dollar General's income was $637 million. Its sales went down 0.4% and same-store sales fell 4.7% but increased 14.1% on a two-year stack basis.

Target reported second-quarter earnings that beat analysts’ estimates, with sales increases across all its merchandise categories. 

Walmart’s total revenues rose 2.4% to $141.04 billion, net sales increased 5.3% and e-commerce net sales growth cooled in the quarter, rising 6%.

According to a recent survey by Bazaarvoice’s Influenster, shopping via TikTok, Twitter and Pinterest has increased dramatically in the past 12 months.

The warehouse club retailer’s net sales rose 16.6% to $15.21 billion for the four weeks ended Aug. 1, up from $13.04 billion in the year-ago period.

Amazon blew past analysts’ second-quarter earnings expectations but its sales — and third-quarter forecast — missed the mark. 

According to the latest Brick Meets Click/Mercatus Grocery Shopping Survey, the U.S. online grocery market generated $6.8 billion in sales during June 2021.
