  • Jarrow Formulas launches antioxidant

    LOS ANGELES — Jarrow Formulas recently launched the dietary supplement Pterostilbene in support of healthy aging.

    Pterostilbene is found naturally in blueberries, grapes and the bark of the Indian kino tree (Pterocarpus marsupium), the company stated. Also called dimethylresveratrol, it is a member of the class of nutrients known as stilbenes, which also includes resveratrol. Jarrow noted that Pterostilbene has demonstrated positive results in such areas as cardiovascular and brain health.

  • New single-concentration acetaminophen products added to PediaCare, Little Remedies lines

    IRVINGTON, N.Y. — Prestige Brands on Thursday announced the launch of its new PediaCare and Little Remedies single-concentration acetaminophen products.

    The new standard concentration liquid acetaminophen products for infants and children under 2 years of age will be 160 mg/5 mL.

    “The voluntary changes to single-concentration acetaminophen dosing demonstrate the continued commitment to accuracy, safety and innovation from PediaCare and Little Remedies," Prestige VP over-the-counter products Albert Hwang said.

  • GMDC's SEC format will be featured at the 2011 HBW Conference

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Global Market Development Center on Thursday announced that its 2011 HBW Conference, which will be held in Phoenix from Sept. 9 to 12, will feature the Senior Executive Conference for the sixth time.

    The SEC format helps foster business development opportunities and consists of 40-minute appointments that took place in more relaxed venues than the traditional controlled casual conferences.

    This year, as many as 60 member companies have registered to participate, GMDC said.

  • Strides Arcolab's generic diabetes drug enters market

    BANGALORE, India — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug for diabetes made by Indian generic drug maker Strides Arcolab.

    The FDA approved acarbose tablets in the 25-mg, 50-mg and 100-mg strengths. The drug is a niche drug used to treat Type 2 diabetes, Strides said.

    Acarbose tablets have sales of about $21 million, according to IMS Health.
