  • Boiron: Room for growth in homeopathic medicines sales

    ANAHEIM, Calif. — According to a study presented Friday at the Natural Products Expo West, Boiron has found there is substantial opportunity for growth in the retail sales of homeopathic medicines with notable interest among consumers in trying homeopathic medicines.

    Nearly half of all consumers have used a natural or alternative medicine successfully in the past, and there is strong consumer desire to minimize their usage of traditional over-the-counter medications because of safety and purity concerns.

  • Survey: NACo Rx discount cardholders save bundles

    WOONSOCKET, R.I., and WASHINGTON —  Patients that participated in a prescription discount card program created by the National Association of Counties saved more than $107 million on their medications in 2010, a new survey released by CVS Caremark and NACo found.

    What's more, CVS Caremark and NACo noted, the average discount per prescription was about 24%.

  • Lilly head continues call for medical innovation

    TOKYO — Eli Lilly leader John Lechleiter has become something of an evangelist for medical innovation lately.

    On Wednesday, the Lilly chairman, president and CEO spoke to the U.S./Japan Business Council in Tokyo to call for changes and policies in the biopharmaceutical industry that encourage innovation, or “reinventing invention,” as he called it.
