CINCINNATI — The supermarket shopping experience at Kroger is about to undergo a significant digitally-driven transformation even as the grocery store operator seeks to exit the c-store and gas arena.

The digital transformation is being called Restock Kroger and is expected to redefine the food and grocery customer experience in America, the company stated.

SOLON, Ohio — ECRM has recognized nine retailers for their work in sourcing, merchandising and supplier collaboration as part of its second annual Merchant Team of the Year awards effort. The winners span 10 categories across the food, drug, mass and value channels.

CINCINNATI — Kroger is now offering associates and their immediate families pricing of $25 or less for medically necessary services at The Little Clinic locations, the grocer announced Monday.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Walgreens has committed to a $250,000 donation to American Red Cross Hurricane Maria relief efforts, the retailer announced Monday. In addition, Walgreens customers can also donate to Red Cross hurricane relief efforts at approximately 8,000 Walgreens and Duane Reade locations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Customers can make donations at store checkout.

LAKELAND, Fla. — Beginning Sept. 28, Publix will begin testing curbside grocery pickup at two locations in Florida. In addition, Metro-Atlanta stores will begin testing curbside pickup by the end of this year.

“We’ve had great success with Publix Delivery powered by Instacart, and the demand for online grocery services has continued to grow," stated Maria Brous, director of media and community relations, Publix. "So we’re excited to test Publix Curbside and learn more about how to best meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

NEW YORK — Recent hurricane relief efforts have expanded to incorporate the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in Florida and neighboring southern states as retail pharmacy operators continue to provide support to the associates and customers impacted by floods and power outages.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Walgreens on Wednesday committed to a $200,000 donation to American Red Cross Hurricane Irma relief efforts and also is donating supplies of water and food to relief efforts in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
