    CINCINNATI — A 45-year Kroger veteran will retire from his post in February.

    Paul Scutt, who began his career with Kroger in 1965 as a store clerk, currently serves at the retailer's SVP retail operations.

  • UnitedHealthcare partners with Kroger, Safeway on $2 generic Part D plan

    MINNETONKA, Minn. — UnitedHealth Group will start a program next year that it said can reduce drug costs to as low as $2 per script, the company said Tuesday.

    The program, Pharmacy Saver, will be available to Medicare Part D members and is a collaboration with Kroger, Safeway and Prescription Solutions. The program will allow members to purchase some scripts for $2 for 30- and some 90-day supplies and applies to hundreds of prescription drugs, including 8-of-the-10 most commonly used by UnitedHealthcare Medicare plan members.

    The targeted media program for DRSI ReStore! Energy — which now is available at Duane Reade and Rite Aid pharmacies in the area — supplements the brand's national television campaign, includes high saturation local commercial spots on television and radio, and internet banner ads to appear specifically on Web pages viewed by people in New York and the surrounding area.

  • Ralph's, Food 4 Less announce checkstand canister fundraising program

    LOS ANGELES Two supermarket chains owned by Kroger announced their fundraising efforts to benefit local food banks.

    Ralph's and Food 4 Less said that they are collecting donations to help local food banks and families in need through their checkstand canisters. Each retailer kicked off their respective Bringing Hope to the Table initiatives, which include an annual cause-marketing partnership with Feeding America that generated more than $200,000 for Feeding America-affiliated food banks this year.

    The new stand-up pouch for CoverMate's variety pack reduces packaging source materials by 75%, CoverMate said. The pack contains a selection of stretch-to-fit food covers in four sizes, ideal for covering everything in the kitchen from small cans and food storage containers, to casserole dishes and large party platters.
