  • Meijer opens superstore in Sturgis, Mich.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Meijer on Thursday opened a new 192,000-square-foot supercenter in Sturgis, Mich.

    "Opening this store has been a long time coming, and we're thrilled the day is finally here," CEO Hank Meijer said. "Sturgis has never had a one-stop shopping destination like Meijer, so we're proud to be the retailer to fill that void."

    Meijer opened two of its planned nine new and 32 remodeled stores in 2016 across the Michigan-based retailer's six-state footprint. According to MLive.com, the new 192,000 square-foot supercenters in Evansville, Ind. and Owensboro, Ky., are built to Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design standards and will be open 24 hours a day.     GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Meijer opened new 192,000-square-foot supercenters Thursday in Evansville, Ind. and Owensboro, Ky.
     
    "Investing in Evansville and Owensboro was an easy decision for us," CEO Hank Meijer said. "We're excited to serve new friends and neighbors. We're looking forward to working with both communities and growing alongside the families of the tri-state area."

    NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Leading Dutch sweets brand Daelmans is expanding distribution of its popular Stroopwafels.

    The company, in conjunction with Brand Passport Inc., is making its famous Stroopwafels available throughout Chicago at specialty stores, major grocery stores, convenience stores and other retailers.

  • Report: Meijer to sponsor street hockey in parking lots

    Meijer is planning to turn 10 Michigan parking lots into destinations for summer street hockey for kids, according to the Associated Press. The big retailer says there will be an hour of instruction followed by a 30-minute game at 10 stores in July. (AP)

  • Meijer opens first of new clinics under Sparrow Health System partnership

    An exam room in the new Sparrow FastCare Clinic at the Okemos, Mich. Meijer store. 

    OKEMOS, Mich. — Meijer on Monday held a ribbon cutting ceremony to open its newest health care clinic at its location here at 2055 W. Grand River Ave. The Sparrow FastCare clinic will offer walk-in services for minor injuries and common illnesses and is staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants from Sparrow Health System.
