The retailer donated $1 million to 17 local affiliates of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce across the Midwest.

The retailer will source clean, renewable energy in steps toward reaching the goal of reducing 50% of absolute carbon emissions by 2025.

The donation will support development programs aimed at socio-economically disadvantaged youth, the retailer said.

The contribution will be divided evenly between six NMSDC affiliate councils that support minority-owned businesses within the retailer's six-state footprint.

Meijer has begun working with avocado suppliers to establish a pilot program that perfects the avocado ripening process.

The retailer is offering at-home COVID-19 PCR tests free of charge to customers at its 254 pharmacies throughout the Midwest.

As part of the Biden administration’s effort to distribute 400 million free N95 masks, retail pharmacies participating in the program include Hy-Vee, Meijer, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens and Kroger.

Meijer’s small-format Fairfax Market will be its first location outside of Michigan.
