NEW YORK — One of the most anticipated makeup launches this year is coming from an upstart whose namesake people already know. In partnership with LVMH’s Kendo Brands, Rihanna (full name Robyn Rihanna Fenty) launched Fenty Beauty Friday, bringing it to 1,600 Sephora stores in 17 countries.

SHANGHAI — Chocolate and cocoa maker Barry Callebaut is bringing a new type of chocolate to the world. Ruby chocolate joins milk, dark and white chocolates 80 years after the introduction of white chocolate. The company uses a unique process to bring out the natural berry fruitiness and color precursors naturally present in the ruby cocoa bean.

NEW YORK — Coty is growing its fragrance portfolio with a new scent from Katy Perry that asks consumers to be “Different. Together.” The fragrance, Katy Perry’s INDI, has launched exclusively at Walgreens and Walgreens.com.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Natural deodorant maker Schmidt’s Naturals is marking the coming season change with a new scent. The company has teamed up with Edens Garden to create the new Earth + Wood scent.

The new scent is made with essential oils from Edens Garden, which include notes of vetiver and cedarwood, as well as accents of damiana.

WASHINGTON — Earlier this week the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Chemo Research's New Drug Application for benznidazole. This is the first drug ever approved by the FDA to treat Chagas disease.

Benznidazole is an essential medicine for Chagas disease, a parasitic disease that affects an estimated 6 million to 8 million people worldwide. In the United States, an estimated 300,000 people are living with Chagas disease. Previously, it was available through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but was not FDA approved.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration earlier this week approved Rempex Pharmaceuticals' Vabomere for adults with complicated urinary tract infections, including a type of kidney infection, pyelonephritis, caused by specific bacteria.

Vabomere is a drug containing meropenem, an antibacterial, and vaborbactam, which inhibits certain types of resistance mechanisms used by bacteria.
