  • Kerrygold announces new Dubliner Cracker Cut Cheese

    EVANSTON, Ill. — Kerrygold has announced that Dubliner cheese will now be available in convenient cracker-size slices.

    Dubliner Cracker Cut Cheese, available at supermarkets nationwide, will come in a 6-ounce re-sealable parchment package, with 18 slices to a package. The pre-sliced cheese will measure 2x2 inches. This latest product will join Dubliner Cheese, Reduced Fat Dubliner Cheese and Dubliner with Irish Stout.

  • Insource Healthcare Solutions to use telehealth systems from Polycom

    SAN JOSE, Calif. – Insource Healthcare Solutions is adding wall-mounted and cart-mounted video systems at the hospitals it operates in upstate New York and Pennsylvania in order to allow for telehealth services and cut costs.

    Polycom said Insource would install its HDX 8000 video systems, which stream video to remote physicians who have corresponding software on their computers and tablets, enabling them to observe, interact with and diagnose patients.

  • Actavis applies for approval of generic version of Absorica

    DUBLIN — Actavis is seeking Food and Drug Administration approval for a generic drug used to treat acne, triggering a lawsuit in a federal court from the maker of the branded version, the company said Thursday.

    The drug maker said it had filed with the FDA for approval of isotretinoin capsules in the 10-mg, 20-mg, 30-mg and 40-mg strengths. The drug is a generic version of Ranbaxy's Absorica, a retinoid used to treat severe, recalcitrant nodular acne in patients 12 and older.

    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — A once-daily inhaler for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease has become available, the makers of the inhaler said Wednesday.

    GlaxoSmithKline and Theravance announced the availability of Breo Ellipta (fluticasone furoate; vilanterol), for long-term maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with COPD, a term that encompasses chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The drug is not meant for treating acute bronchospasm or asthma, the companies said.
