  • Sandoz launches generic psoriasis treatment

    PRINCETON, N.J. — Sandoz has launched a generic version of a topical medication used to treat psoriasis, the company said.

    Sandoz, the generics arm of Swiss drug maker Novartis, announced the launch of calcipotriene cream in the 0.005% strength, calling it the first generic version of Leo Pharma's Dovonex.

    Dovonex had sales of about $118.8 million during the 12-month period ended in May, according to IMS Health.

  • FDA approves generic versions of asthma, allergy drug

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved several generic versions of a drug used to treat asthma and allergies, the agency said Friday.

    The FDA announced the approval of montelukast sodium, a drug indicated for controlling asthma symptoms and relieving indoor and outdoor allergies.

    The drug is a generic version of Merck's Singulair, which had sales of $4.6 billion in 2011, according to IMS Health.

  • Tide taps Betty White for Vivid White + Bright relaunch

    CINCINNATI — Tide is relaunching its Tide plus bleach alternative detergent with a new name.

    Tide Vivid White + Bright is designed to communicate the product benefit of keeping white clothing vivid and bright, wash after wash, the brand said. Tide also is releasing Tide Vivid White + Bright Boost, which is designed to give laundry an extra boost for the peskiest of stains.

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug for treating colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, the agency said Friday.

  • Philosys seeks FDA approval for blood-glucose meter

    NEW YORK — Philosys is seeking regulatory approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its blood-glucose monitoring system.

    Gmate Smart, which the company calls "the smallest and most innovative meter in the world," is a blood-glucose meter that works with the headphone connector of the iPhone, iPad and iPod.

    WESTAMPTON, N.J. — A line of cord and cable management products is making its way to retailers nationwide.

    Paris Business Products announced it has signed an exclusive license to manufacture and distribute the Dotz brand of cord and cable management products throughout North America. Dotz cord identifiers are designed to take the guesswork out of knowing what cord, cable or wire is in what plug and belongs to what device. Each identifier features a bright color and a preprinted insert, the company said.

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg's announced that it is rolling out special-edition boxes of Corn Flakes featuring U.S. gymnast Gabby Douglas, who won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
