Popmask won the Drug Store News Buyers’ Choice Award for its Big Hug self-heating patches at ECRM’s Personal Care Session held recently in Indian Wells, Calif. Ashtel Studios was a finalist for its Poppin Toothbrush.

Both products were selected from dozens of entries submitted by participating suppliers and displayed in the hospitality area of the session. Attending buyers evaluated each entry and cast their votes based on product packaging and innovation.

“Personal care products are a part of our everyday lives,” said Judy Ard, vice president of health care for ECRM. “When innovative products come along, they make a big impact on our self-care regimens as well as those of our families, and both Popmask and Ashtel Studios have accomplished this with their winning products. Congratulations to both winners.”

Beginning in 2012 with an idea for a hair tie that doesn't damage or dent hair, Popmask London now supplies its products in over 15,000 retail locations worldwide.

The Big Hug self-heating patch was developed when Louisa wanted to create a drug-free alternative to help her teenage daughters with period pain, something that would ease cramps but also offer soothing comfort and last all day.

Users simply stick the single-use biodegradable patch onto clothing or underwear in their chosen position to feel the gentle warmth for up to 12 hours. Each box includes five patches.

The Poppin' Toothbrush was developed to promote healthy oral care practices at an early age with a product that feels more like a toy than a toothbrush. With the click of a button, each character springs to life with an exciting pop.

The innovative design delivers a safe, effective clean with ultra-soft bristles on a small head ideal for children's mouths. The character head acts as a travel cap so little ones have a secure and sanitary cover. Drainage holes under the character's feet prevent water build-up and grime.
