    ST. LOUIS — The Journal of the American Dietetic Association has published a list of nutritional practice guidelines for people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in its December issue.

  • J&J recalls lots of Tylenol product over labeling

    BOSTON — Johnson & Johnson recalled lots of its Tylenol Cold Multi-Symptom liquid products due to insufficient labeling, the company said Wednesday.

    The products are not being recalled due to reports of any adverse events associated with taking the product, the company added.

    Earlier this week, the company recalled additional lots of millions of packages of Children's Benadryl and children's Motrin.

    WESTPORT, Conn. — More than half of people with diabetes struggle to pay for their medical supplies, according to a poll by diabetes community network dLife.com.

    The poll also found that 49% of the more than 800 people surveyed were able to make ends meet with income and health insurance, but still felt stress, particularly during certain months of the year.

    Meanwhile, more than 30% reported having to cut back on prescription drugs, supplies and medical care, while 16% accepted community or government assistance programs.

    NEW YORK A daily dose of an anti-retroviral pill appears to prevent HIV infection, according to results of a study conducted by University of California at San Francisco researchers, published in The New England Journal of Medicine on Tuesday.

  • Dr. Reddy’s launches generic Accolate

    HYDERABAD, India Indian generic drug maker Dr. Reddy’s Labs has launched a version of an asthma drug for the U.S. market, the company said.

    Dr. Reddy’s announced the launch of zafirlukast tablets in the 10-mg and 20-mg strengths. The drug is a version of AstraZeneca’s Accolate, which had sales of $50 million during the 12-month period ended in August, according to IMS Health.

  • Study finds healthcare team could improve Type 2 diabetics' health

    NEW YORK — Adding pharmacists to a primary care team could help diabetics better manage associated risks, according to a new study conducted by researchers from the University of Alberta.

    Among 153 hypertensive Type 2 diabetes patients studied, 82 who had advice from a pharmacist were more likely to reach blood pressure treatment targets recommended by the Canadian Diabetes Association.
