  • Becton, Dickinson and Co. launches new insulin pen needle

    FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. Becton, Dickinson and Co. has launched what the company calls the world's smallest insulin pen needle.

    The BD Ultra-Fine Nano provides glucose control of typical longer insulin pen needles but with less pain upon injection, BD said.

  • MinuteClinic appoints new chief nurse practitioner

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. —Underscoring the value of the nurse practitioner in the convenient care industry, CVS Caremark’s MinuteClinic has named Vermont state commissioner Paulette Thabault as its new chief nurse practitioner officer.

    In this role, which is a new position at MinuteClinic, Thabault will provide leadership to clinicians who staff MinuteClinic health centers and will help lead MinuteClinic’s clinical service excellence.

  • The Little Clinic adds new insurance provider to accepted plans

    BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — The Little Clinic has announced that its 18 locations in Columbus and Cincinnati have added Medical Mutual of Ohio to their group of accepted insurances.

    "We are pleased to add Medical Mutual of Ohio to our roster of accepted plans in Ohio as almost 20% of Ohioans have Medical Mutual coverage," stated Rob Pantoja, CFO. "This announcement represents another step forward in our commitment to bring convenient, accessible and affordable healthcare to consumers in the Cincinnati, Columbus and surrounding communities."

  • Blacksmith Brands recalls four PediaCare lines

    TARRYTOWN, N.Y. In consultation with the Food and Drug Administration, Blacksmith Brands last week voluntarily recalled all lots of four children's products in the PediaCare line. The products were manufactured for Blacksmith Brands by McNeil Consumer Healthcare at McNeil's Fort Washington, Pa., plant.

     

    The four PediaCare items involved in the recall are:

  • Target to expand its retail clinic presence

    MINNEAPOLIS Target is looking to open eight new clinic locations this September, which includes new clinics at Target stores in Chicago and three in the Palm Beach, Fla., area.

    Target introduced the Target Clinic in 2006 and currently operates 28 nurse practitioner-staffed locations in Minnesota and Maryland.

  • RediClinic offering respiratory condition treatments

    HOUSTON Retail-based clinic operator RediClinic now is offering nebulizer breathing treatments.

    Through the use of a clinically supervised nebulizer treatment, patients can breathe medication directly to the lungs, helping to ease airway inflammation and allowing for easier breathing.

    The treatment is designed for those patients experiencing wheezing, coughing and trouble breathing caused by such respiratory conditions as asthma, reactive airway disease and bronchitis.

  • MinuteClinic offering physicals at special rate

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. With camp season, team practices and summer sports leagues right around the corner, administrators soon will be asking for completed physical exam forms before a child or teen is able to participate, so MinuteClinic is offering exams at a special rate through Sept. 19.

    Through Sept. 19, exams will be priced at $35. Additional charges may apply for more thorough exam requirements, such as urinalysis. Insurance is not accepted for physical exams. Requirements for physicals vary by state, and services are not available in Massachusetts.
