  • CVS/pharmacy, MinuteClinic promoting importance of flu shots

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy and MinuteClinic are reminding families during National Influenza Vaccination Week about the importance of receiving their flu vaccinations, and are partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the NFL Retired Players Association to increase awareness about the benefits of annual flu vaccination.

  • RediClinic kicks off Weigh Forward holiday promotion

    HOUSTON — RediClinic — which currently operates 30 clinics inside H-E-B grocery stores in Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Texas — is encouraging patients to get healthy and lose weight by enrolling in its Weigh Forward weight management program.

    The clinic operator has kicked off a promotion whereby patients will receive a $100 H-E-B gift card when they enroll in the 10-week weight management program. The offer ends Dec. 31, 2012.

    Weigh Forward was developed in partnership with weight-loss expert David Katz and launched in May 2011.

  • NPs vote to form new national membership organization

    AUSTIN, Texas — The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American College of Nurse Practitioners announced that they are moving forward with plans to consolidate effective Jan. 1, 2013.

    The combined organization will be known as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners or AANP. With approximately 40,000 members, AANP will serve as the largest professional membership organization in the country for nurse practitioners of all specialties.

    HOUSTON, Texas – RediClinic employees and their families lost a combined 700 lbs. — an average of 19.5 lbs. per participant for those who completed the program — while participating in a companywide competition aimed at promoting weight loss and health improvement, the retail-based clinic operator announced.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens and Take Care Clinics on Friday announced the offer of free health testing for hemoglobin A1C and blood glucose at more than 3,000 U.S. locations through the end of November as part of American Diabetes Month and the Walgreens Way to Well Commitment.
