  • Comparable Q1 pharmacy sales up 10.1% for Jean Coutu

    VARENNES, Quebec — The Jean Coutu Group on Tuesday reported $580.6 million in revenues for the first quarter ended June 3, representing an increase of 3.7% that was attriubuted to overall market growth by the Canadian retailer.

  • Walgreens expands HIV PrEP medication protocol by 17 markets

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Monday announced that beginning July 13, providers at Walgreens Healthcare Clinic locations in 17 new markets will be able to prescribe PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), a medication protocol for people who don’t have HIV to help proactively protect against HIV infection.  The new markets include Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus (Ohio), Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Knoxville, Las Vegas, Louisville, Memphis, Nashville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Tucson, Washington D.C., and Wichita.

Pharmacies that implement these enhancements in their McKesson pharmacy management system can improve patient medication adherence and measurement, further streamline pharmacy workflow and provide convenient mobile delivery and tracking capabilities for patient prescriptions.

  • Soylent pilots launch of ready-to-drink meals through LA 7-Elevens

    LOS ANGELES — Rosa Foods, the makers of Soylent, on Friday announced that the company will test its suite of nutritionally complete, ready-to-drink meals at 18 participating 7-Eleven stores in the Greater Los Angeles area beginning July 10. The 7-Eleven locations currently plan to sell three Soylent flavors: Cacao, Cafe Coffiest and the new Cafe Chai.

    In the aftermath of the announcement that Walgreens would be purchasing more than 2,000 stores from Rite Aid rather than continuing with its initial plan to acquire the chain outright — which removed the need for Fred’s to purchase 855 Rite Aid stores and related assets — the Memphis-based retailer is unfazed.
