  • Fred’s provided more than 100K screening touch points in Q1

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fred’s Pharmacy on Thursday announced that from February to April this year, the company provided more than 100,000 preventative screening touch points to its patients. These touch points included more than 60,000 kits to screen for colorectal cancer, almost 37,000 blood pressure screenings and almost 800 flu shots.

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart on Wednesday announced that Walmart Pay is now available in the more than 4,600 Walmart stores nationwide.

    Available through the Walmart app, Walmart Pay works with any iOS or Android device, at any checkout lane and with any credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart gift card. Walmart Pay is like no other mobile payments solution available today, expanding access to mobile payments and improving the way customers check out in all Walmart stores in the U.S.

  • Walgreens to spearhead enrollment for PMI Cohort Program

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens will participate in the U.S. Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program through an initial $20 million grant awarded to The Scripps Research Institute by the National Institutes of Health, the retail pharmacy operation announced Thursday. The company will help support patient enrollment and participation in the program through its daily interactions with more than 8 million customers in stores, online and through its mobile app.

  • Latest CVS Health Research Institute study proclaims MTM value to hospitals

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. - Hospital readmissions are reduced by as much as 50% thanks to retail pharmacy medication reconciliation programs, according to a  new study released Thursday by the CVS Health Research Institute.

    The research, published in the July issue of Health Affairs, is the first to evaluate the impact of an insurer-supported medication reconciliation program on clinical outcomes and health care spending.

  • Fred’s dip in pharmacy sales brings down bottom line in June

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fred’s on Thursday reported its June sales figures, posting a 2.3% decrease in total sales for the five weeks ended July 2, totaling $208.5 million, compared to last June’s $213.3 million. Comparable store sales also saw a drop of 1.3%, where last June there was a 1.6% rise.
