Schnucks marks supermarket employee day with weeklong celebration
On Saturday, Feb. 22, Schnuck Markets is joining supermarkets and food manufacturers nationwide in celebrating the annual Supermarket Employee Day. The Food Industry Association has proclaimed this holiday to recognize employees for the work they do feeding families.
To thank its essential workers, teammates that have a Schnucks Rewards account will receive 5,000 points ($10) as well as a teammate-only digital coupon. In addition, Schnucks teammates at all stores, facilities, warehouses and offices will be celebrating with various activities that include additional appreciation, fun activities and dress up themes:
- Monday, Feb.17 - Tacky Tourist Takeover
- Tuesday, Feb.18 - Red, White and You
- Wednesday, Feb.19 - The Superhero Within
- Thursday, Feb. 20 - Sports Style Showdown
- Friday, Feb. 21 - Battle of the Band Shirts
- Saturday, Feb. 22 - Schnucks Spirit Wear
- Sunday, Feb. 23 - Hat’s the Way I like It

With more than 40,000 individual stores that sell food and grocery items, many supermarkets serve as the backbones of their communities. Millions of supermarket employees come to work daily to keep shelves stocked and to provide communities with essential services that help them survive and thrive, Schnucks said.
“This week provides the ideal opportunity for us to celebrate the work our nearly 12,000 teammates do to help nourish people’s lives both in our stores and our communities," said Schnucks chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “Our teammates are the backbone of our company and the primary reason Schnucks has had the honor of serving millions and millions of customers over the past 86 years.”
In 2024, Schnucks recognized a total of 278 teammates celebrating 25-, 30-, 35-, 40-, 45 and 50-year anniversaries, which means those teammates combined for 8,590 years serving the company and communities where Schnucks stores are located.

Customers are urged to stop by their local Schnucks store to thank the teammates who serve them each and every day and are also encouraged to honor their favorite teammates in social media posts by using the hashtag #SupermarketEmployeeDay.
