    As expected, advancements in technology and women’s reluctance to trade down in a segment that promises to ward off the signs of aging have spelled continued growth for anti-aging skin care products.


    “Manufacturers continue to introduce new active ingredients ... while advanced anti-aging formulas are spilling over from the premium segment into the mass channel,” stated Euromonitor International in its most recent U.S. skin care report.

  • Black Opal launches new concealer

    NEW YORK — Black Opal, a line of ethnic skin care and color cosmetics, is launching in early 2011 its new total coverage spot and scar eraser.

    The formula is an ultra-pigmented concealer that promises to camouflage blemishes, scars and imperfections to create perfect-looking skin.

    The transfer-resistant concealer is available in several shades, including Kalahari Sand, Heavenly Honey, Truly Tropez and nutmeg. The suggested retail price is $8.95 each.

  • Vaseline Intensive Rescue seeks to end dry skin

    ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. Vaseline Intensive Rescue, a Unilever brand, is on a mission to rescue dry skin this winter by sending out the Dry Skin Patrol team.

    The team is comprised of real women who know what it's like to have dry skin and is charged with putting their skin and lotion to the test at some of the country's harshest winter activities for skin. Serving as the team's leader is Wendie Malick, an actress and star of TV Land's "Hot in Cleveland."

     

  • Kinerase announces new skin care line for mass

    ALISO VIEJO, Calif. Clinical skin care brand Kinerase, which has a long history of creating high-end skin care products for both the physician and prestige channels, now has developed a new line for the mass market -- Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase.

    Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase, a new hybrid of skin care products for consumers who need a more accessible price point, is comprised of 10 cleansers, moisturizers and daily treatments. The products will be available beginning February 2011 at select Walgreens and Walmart locations, and will retail for between $10 and $35.

  • Neutrogena Cosmetics study: Women opt for natural look, flawless skin

    LOS ANGELES A new national survey commissioned by Neutrogena Cosmetics suggested a trend toward a less "made up" look for American women. Women expected their cosmetics to deliver flawless skin and sun protection, above fashion-forward colors, according to the findings.

    Executed by Harris Interactive, the survey explored the relationship American women have with their cosmetics. It was conducted online within the United States from Aug. 9 to 11, among 1,018 adult women ages 18 years and older.
