  • Interbrand reveals top U.S. retail brands for 2012

    DAYTON, Ohio — While Walmart maintained the No. 1 position on Interbrand's "U.S. Most Valuable Retail Brands" list for 2012, several other retailers are moving up the ranks.

    Although Walmart touts a value that's more than $139 billion, this year also marked a 2% decrease for the big box retailer, Interbrand said. Second on this year's list was Target, which holds a value of $23 billion, a 1% increase over last year.

  • Target to use pharmacy franchise model for its stores in Canada

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target on Monday announced it will seek independent pharmacists to own and operate the pharmacies in its stores in Canada.

    The chain said it will utilize a pharmacy franchise model for its stores north of the border, the first of which will open in March/April 2013. The strategy is different than in the United States, where Target operates its own in-store pharmacies.

  • Target expands list of Canada stores opening next year

    MINNEAPOLIS — Just a few weeks after unveiling the locations of its first 24 stores in Canada, Target released an expanded list of stores that will debut in 2013.

  • Target gives $5 million to needy schools

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target has announced the names of 50 schools that were selected to receive a $100,000 grant to purchase much-needed resources and improve their learning environments. The $5 million donation from Target to K through 12 schools in 31 states across the country is part of the company’s commitment to education, which includes plans to give $1 billion for education by the end of 2015.
