    TEL-AVIV, Israel — Anlit on Monday introduced Omega Bites under the Meijer supermarket's children's label. Omega Bites are a high-DHA+EPA omega-3 supplement in a single, fish-shaped orange-chocolate flavored chewable for children.

  • Walgreens, Kroger contribute to Hurricane Maria relief efforts

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Walgreens has committed to a $250,000 donation to American Red Cross Hurricane Maria relief efforts, the retailer announced Monday. In addition, Walgreens customers can also donate to Red Cross hurricane relief efforts at approximately 8,000 Walgreens and Duane Reade locations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Customers can make donations at store checkout.

  • Walmart reportedly mulling same-day delivery in NYC

    Walmart could be making another bold move in the online delivery game.

    Speaking at an advertising industry event in New York City on Wednesday, Marc Lore, president and CEO of Walmart eCommerce U.S., said that he expects the chain to offer free, same-day delivery in New York City “very soon,” Bloomberg reported.

  • Publix pilots curbside pickup

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Beginning Sept. 28, Publix will begin testing curbside grocery pickup at two locations in Florida. In addition, Metro-Atlanta stores will begin testing curbside pickup by the end of this year.

    “We’ve had great success with Publix Delivery powered by Instacart, and the demand for online grocery services has continued to grow," stated Maria Brous, director of media and community relations, Publix. "So we’re excited to test Publix Curbside and learn more about how to best meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

    MONTREAL — Industry consolidation continued in the Great White North as the Jean Coutu Group could soon be part of Canada’s third-largest grocery chain. The company announced Wednesday that it was in advanced talks with Metro, which operates in Quebec and Ontario, regarding a potential combination agreement.

    Under the terms of a non-binding letter of intent dated Aug. 22, the company would be acquired for $24.50 per share, paid 75% in cash and 25% in Metro shares.
