  • Walgreens Boots Alliance secures 10-year own brand manufacturing agreement

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens Boots Alliance on Wednesday announces a binding offer from Fareva for a 10-year global agreement for the manufacture and supply of own beauty brands and private label products, including products for sale in the U.S.

    "The proposed agreement will create a partnership to provide Walgreens Boots Alliance with a core multinational manufacturing and development resource, enabling the company to accelerate its global product strategy," Walgreens Boots Alliance stated.

    SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets last week announced Donna Banks-Ficcio has joined the company as VP center store sales and merchandising, where she will oversee the company’s grocery, dairy, frozen, HBC/GM and beer and wine departments. Her oversight responsibilities include category management, merchandising and pricing and she will report to Richard Gunn, SVP merchandising and marketing.

  • Proposed CMS cuts to 340B will have negligible impact, Walgreens says

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens Boots Alliance met with various investors to clarify its participation in the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration 340B drug pricing program.

    For the first nine months of fiscal 2017, prescriptions related to the 340B program represented less than 1% of the Retail Pharmacy USA division’s prescription volume, Walgreens noted. The division has around 1,200 340B contracts. During the first nine months of fiscal 2017, 340B prescriptions were filled at approximately 6,100 of the division’s pharmacies.

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Patients in Michigan and South Carolina can now access naloxone without a prescription at Rite Aid pharmacies. The company on Thursday announced the expansion of availability of the overdose reversal drug, making it accessible at 360 pharmacies in the two states.
