  • Albertsons announces its banners have stocked flu shots

    BOISE, Idaho — Following a letter from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noting that the flu is widespread in Idaho, Washington, Massachusetts, California, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania, Albertsons announced this week that its pharmacies have stocked the standard and high-dose flu vaccines. 
     
  • Ahold to enhance supplier diversity

    CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA inked a deal with RangeMe, an online platform that streamlines new product discovery between retailers and product suppliers. Specifically, the technology platform allows Ahold to discover and source more women-owned and minority-owned businesses with innovative and quality products for its division stores.

    Ahold USA stated it will use RangeMe to not only scale its product and supplier discovery efforts, but also to manage the company’s inbound product submissions.

  • Walgreens transfers operations of 4 retail clinics to Florida's Sacred Heart Health System

    DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreens and Sacred Heart Health System on Monday signed an agreement to have Sacred Heart operate and provide all clinical services at four retail health clinics to be located within Walgreens stores in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Cold and flu remedies purchased over the counter at Meijer pharmacies have increased 30% over recent weeks, a possible sign consumers bypassed getting their annual flu shot during this winter season.

  • CVS offers flu shots in Washington State

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health is offering flu shots at 30 pharmacies inside Target stores in Washington State.

    Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and first lady Trudi Inslee visited the CVS Pharmacy in Target in Olympia, Wash., on Jan. 6 and encouraged other state residents who have not received their flu vaccine yet to do so.

    According to CVS, flu activity typically peaks in January and February, and has been rising in Washington State.

    Flu shots are available seven days a week. 

  • Ahold Delhaize commences 1B euros share buyback program

    ZAANDAM, The Netherlands — Ahold Delhaize will buy back $1 billion euros worth of its stock. The program is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

    According to Ahold Delhaize, the program is intended to reduce the company’s capital by cancelling all or part of the common shares acquired through the program.

    The share buyback is part of Ahold Delhaize’s Better Together strategy. The company will provide updates on the status of the share buyback program throughout the year.

    CHESAPEAKE, Va.  — Dollar Tree and its Family Dollar subsidiary on Thursday added former Walmart chief merchant Duncan Mac Naughton to the team and promoted Dollar Tree president and COO Gary Philbin to the role of enterprise president.

  • Theranos cuts 41% of workforce

    PALO ALTO, Calif. — Theranos Friday announced it will cut 155 jobs, or 41% of its workforce, leaving the company with 220 employees.

    According to Palo Alto-based Theranos, further re-engineering of the company’s operations are needed as it works towards commercialization of its miniLab testing platform and its related technologies.
