  • Walmart Canada launches app

    MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - Walmart Canada announced Wednesday the launch of its new online shopping application for iPhone and Android users.

    "We're always looking for ways to enhance our customers' shopping experience," stated Rick Neuman, EVP technology and e-commerce at Walmart Canada.  "The Walmart app saves customers time and money and provides better access to products while at home or on the go."

    The app promises to help customers browse and check out efficiently with features such as:

     

  • Kroger's Axium Pharmacy merges with ModernHEALTH specialty pharmacy

    CINCINNATI - Kroger on Wednesday announced an agreement for Axium Pharmacy Holdings to acquire the outstanding shares of Modern HC Holdings, a leading specialty pharmacy, to create a combined specialty pharmacy that will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kroger.

  • Target hires Apple veteran to oversee global logistics

    MINNEAPOLIS -- A veteran of Apple has been named as the new senior vice president in charge of global logistics, inventory allocation and replenishment at Target.

    Ben Cook will lead the optimization of Target’s inbound and outbound supply chain processes, including carrier transportation and last-mile delivery. He’ll also oversee inventory allocation and replenishment, merchandise planning operations and global logistics. He will report to Target’s executive vice president and chief supply chain and logistics officer, Arthur Valdez.

  • Walmart asks suppliers to remove 8 chemicals from products

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Walmart has asked suppliers to remove "high priority chemicals," such as formaldehyde and triclosan, from their products as part of an effort to eliminate controversial chemicals from household goods.

    The chemicals on the list include “certain properties that can affect human health or the environment,” Walmart said in a statement issued Wednesday.

    CINCINNATI - Kroger on Tuesday announced the retirement of Houston division president Bill Breetz, and the promotion of Marlene Stewart to succeed him. Stewart currently serves as president of the company's Dillons division.

    Subsequently, Colleen Juergensen will succeed Stewart as president of Dillons. Juergensen currently serves as VP merchandising of the Smith's division.
