  • Walgreens Infusion Services selected as preferred provider for Makena

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens Infusion Services on Monday announced that it has been selected as the preferred provider of home administration services for Makena (hydroxyprogesterone caproate injection), the only FDA-approved medication to help reduce the risk of preterm birth for clinically indicated patients. Makena is a progestin indicated to reduce the risk of preterm birth in women with a singleton pregnancy who have a history of singleton spontaneous preterm birth.

  • Walgreens partners with family support group Tomorrow's Child

    EAST LANSING, Mich. — Family support group Tomorrow's Child recently partnered with Walgreens stores across Michigan, according to the company. 

    Supporters of Tomorrow's Child can help more babies reach their first birthdays by visiting Walgreens in January and purchasing $1 or $5 "pin-ups" at any of its 230 Michigan stores.

    Target is looking to open a new, smaller — much smaller — store in the base of an apartment building currently under construction near the University of Minnesota campus that will serve as a test for the new format dubbed TargetExpress, the New York Times has reported.

  • Meijer raises $1.2 million through Simply Give campaign

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer customers donated more than $510,000 during the holiday Simply Give campaign, helping food pantries throughout the Midwest restock their shelves. That commitment to supporting hungry families, combined with a donation from Meijer, raised the holiday campaign total to more than $1.2 million, making it the most successful campaign since Simply Give began in November 2008, the grocer reported.

  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia recognizes Giant Food Stores for $5 million leadership gift

    PHILADELPHIA — The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on Friday hosted an event to announce a $5 million leadership gift from Giant Food Stores to support construction of the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care, an outpatient facility scheduled to open in the University City section of Philadelphia in 2015. Giant Food Stores’ contribution punctuates nearly 20 years of philanthropic support for patient care programs at Children’s Hospital. In recognition of Giant Food Stores’ gift, the lobby of the Buerger Center will be named the Giant Lobby.

  • Armada announces Myrtle Potter will join Summit lineup, adds pre-conference session

    FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Armada Health Care on Thursday added featured speaker Myrtle Potter to its card at the 2014 Specialty Pharmacy Summit and Expo to be held in Las Vegas May 5 to 9. The specialty pharmacy group also announced the addition of a pre-conference seminar/workshop to take place on May 5 and 6. 

    Potter will join a speaker faculty of more than 50 other industry experts at this conference with a presentation titled, "Healthcare Leaders: How Will You Successfully Navigate the Healthcare Storm?". 

  • Walmart Foundation’s Colorado State Giving Program awards $321,000 to eight nonprofits

    DENVER — The Walmart Foundation’s Colorado State Giving Program has awarded $321,000 to eight Colorado nonprofits that are helping to fund local programs to improve education, women’s economic empowerment and healthy eating, as well as to fight hunger. The organizations include We Don’t Waste, Lapuente Home, Care and Share, Kids Aid, Project Angel Heart, Women’s Resource Agency, Broadway Assistance Center and Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado.
