  • CVS/pharmacy, MinuteClinic promoting importance of flu shots

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy and MinuteClinic are reminding families during National Influenza Vaccination Week about the importance of receiving their flu vaccinations, and are partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the NFL Retired Players Association to increase awareness about the benefits of annual flu vaccination.

    MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu on Friday confirmed that a previously announced review of strategic alternatives is proceeding, sparking a slight run on the company's stock. As of early Monday afternoon, Supervalu was trading at $2.53 per share, up 6.3%. 

    "The company continues to be in active discussion with several parties," Supervalu stated. 

    The Wall Street Journal on Sunday reported that Cerberus Capital Management and Supervalu had been negotiating a potential acquisition deal through the weekend.

  • Rite Aid offers discount on influenza vaccinations as flu activity picks up

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is offering a $5 discount on flu vaccinations through the middle of this month, the retail pharmacy chain said Monday.

    To mark National Influenza Vaccination Week, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention started in 2005, which started Sunday and runs through Saturday, Rite Aid is administering flu vaccinations for $24.99 through Dec. 15. The original price was $29.99.
