  • CVS/pharmacy debuts mobile shopping platform for smartphone users

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Looking to stay on the cutting edge of mobile commerce, CVS/pharmacy has made the entire CVS.com catalog available to shoppers through its mobile site (m.cvs.com), so CVS/pharmacy customers easily can browse, order and buy products anywhere, anytime from their smartphones.

    In addition, the CVS Photo mobile site features fully-optimized print ordering and purchasing with easy checkout.

  • Supervalu expands partnership with Western Beef

    EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Supervalu will serve as the primary grocery supplier for retailer Western Beef beginning in January 2012, the company announced Tuesday.

    Supervalu, which currently supplies Western Beef’s two stores in Florida, now will include an additional 22 of Western Beef’s conventional stores and five of their limited assortment stores in New York and New Jersey, along with a third Florida store that is slated to open soon.

  • Rite Aid promotion gives Facebook users first dibs on coupons

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Facebook fans are getting an early shot at coupons for gifts and stocking stuffers as part of a new promotion announced Monday.

    Rite Aid launched its "25 Deals of Christmas" promotion, which will allow visitors to a special tab on Rite Aid's Facebook page to download coupons for such items as beauty items, men's grooming gift sets, electronics and toys. The promotion started Monday and lasts until Dec. 23.

  • Cardinal Health ranks No. 1 on Gartner's 'Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25'

    STAMFORD, Conn. — Gartner on Monday released the findings from its third annual "Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25," ranking Cardinal Health No. 1. The top 25 ranking for 2011 identifies organizations using their supply chains to improve the patient care experience.
     
    "Value chain leadership in a range of foundational and collaborative capabilities has allowed these organizations to make great strides in enabling high-quality patient care at optimal economic cost," stated Barry Blake, research analyst at Gartner.
     

  • Sam's Club, Salvation Army help deserving families through annual campaign

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam's Club announced that it is teaming up with the Salvation Army and Off the Field professional football players' wives association for the fifth annual Dream Drive for the Salvation Army.

    Twenty pre-selected families from the Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family program in 10 different cities will receive $1,000 worth of gifts, including food, clothes, personal items and toys from Sam's Club. As part of the Dream Drive campaign, Off the Field representatives will be shopping at their local Sam's Clubs on Dec. 8 to purchase items for these families.

  • Ahold USA's David Sencabaugh named New Jersey Council of Chain Drug Stores Pharmacist of the Year

    CARLISLE, Pa. — The New Jersey Retail Merchants Association has named Ahold USA director of pharmacy professional services David Sencabaugh the New Jersey Council of Chain Drug Stores 2011 Pharmacist of the Year, Ahold USA said Monday.

    Ahold USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Netherlands-based Royal Ahold, operates the Giant-Carlisle, Giant-Landover and Stop & Shop supermarket chains, as well as the Peapod online grocery service.

  • Target makes up for lackluster comps with last-minute sale

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target may have a chance to bounce back from its anemic 1.8% November comps increase during a period that included strong Black Friday performances for most retailers with its "Almost Last Minute Sale," a new savings event that will offer discounts on items from the most popular gift categories, including home, apparel and accessories, toys, and electronics.

    The three-day sale will take place Dec. 8 through Dec. 10 in stores and at Target.com.
